The Meaning of a Dharmatma

Who is a religious person, what does he do, why is he a religious person? A religious person is one whose soul is connected to religion, whose every action is based on truth, compassion, justice and purity. Being a religious person is not determined by any particular dress, caste, position, birth or external sign; Being religious is determined by a person's inner character, the direction of his soul and the purity of his deeds. A righteous soul is one whose inner voice and conscience; Always be awake, who can call wrong from wrong, stand for what is right, and who does not keep his selfishness or ego as the aim of his life, but considers overall welfare and spiritual progress. A righteous soul is one who keeps his mind, intellect and thoughts pure and does not change his views due to the harshness of the situation or the behavior of others. He is honest, but not harsh; Is humble, but not weak; Is compassionate, but not subject to sentimentality. His life is not the result of any external show, but is a reflection of his internal sadhana. He speaks the truth, because truth is his worship. He does justice, because justice is his religion. He does not deceive, cheat, deceive, violence, envy, malice or do evil to anyone, because his mind remains pure and calm. He does not allow anger to dominate him, because he knows that anger destroys conscience. The mind of a righteous person is calm, stable and strong, hence no fear torments him, no greed tempts him, and no attachment can bind his heart.

His actions are his own declaration. There is no selfishness or ego in what he does. He helps others, but does not show gratitude. He serves, but does not want anything in return. It is beneficial not only for humans but also for animals, nature, water, air, environment etc. He thinks a hundred times before cutting a tree, does not harm the environment, does not turn a blind eye after seeing an injured creature, does not turn his mind after seeing a hungry human being. He performs his actions as per God's orders, and leaves the results to God. A virtuous person is one who remains pure in his thoughts. Just being good externally is not religion; Religion is to conquer the evils within. He conquers greed, attachment, anger, hatred, jealousy, condemnation of others and the animal nature within himself. He keeps his mind free from attachment and hatred, does not hate anyone, does not think bad about anyone. Even if someone insults him, he acts with forgiveness and compassion, because he knows that forgiveness is the highest form of religion and anger is the greatest poison of the soul. The greatest characteristic of his life is his determination; To do right, and to stay right. He does not leave the truth even in difficult circumstances. Even if the world opposes him, he does not deviate from religion. A righteous soul is one who does not follow the direction of the crowd, but walks in the direction of truth. For him, convenience is not important, but principles are important. That greed and fear; One remains free from both, because greed leads man to sin and fear makes man a coward; He knows this very well. He remains above all this.

Dharmatma Karmayogi causes change in the society. His every behavior becomes an inspiration for others. He respects parents, serves the Guru, imparts values ​​to children, and spreads peace, harmony, love and morality in the society. The way he respects God at home, he does the same outside also. The house of a righteous man is like a temple, in which truth, love and divinity reside, he does only what truth and duty tell him. He follows Dharma, by his behavior, by his thoughts, by his actions, and by his dedication. He does not follow rules but follows mental purity. He considers his life dedicated to God and offers every work to God. He works hard, but does not care about the fruits. He does not make success egoistic and does not allow failure to become disappointment. He remains balanced in every situation, as explained here by Lord Krishna in the situation ‘Sthitapragya Gyan’. For all these reasons he is dear to God, that is why he resides in his form within the righteous soul. He walks in truth and truth is God. He shows compassion and compassion is an attribute of God. He does justice and justice is God's will. He remains free from greed and attachment and this freedom is the path to attain God. God loves a religious person because there is no selfishness, no malice, no hatred in the heart of a religious person. His heart is clean and full of love and such a heart becomes the abode of God. This is what Shri Krishna is telling Arjun, ‘Kshipram Bhavati Dharmatma. Na me bhaktaḥ pranasyati' means a virtuous soul attains peace very quickly and my devotee never gets destroyed.

Such a Dharmatma Karmayogi is one on whose life God smiles, because a Dharmatma does what God himself does, that is, always supporting the truth, loving everyone, having compassion for everyone, doing justice to everyone, being equal to everyone, doing selfless service and maintaining purity. The biggest special identity of a religious person is that he does not try to find God, rather God himself is drawn towards him. The mind of a religious person is so pure that the light of God starts appearing naturally on his soul. A righteous person is one who has conquered himself; Whose soul is illuminated by religion; Who has truth, compassion, love, humility and equanimity in his heart; Whose every action is selfless, honest and public welfare; One who experiences the presence of God in his life; And the one who remains a devotee of Shri Krishna ji every moment while living in the world and collecting public donations. He is the true righteous soul, and he is the beloved of God.

One ​​who is religious does not have to do anything to attain God, God himself starts residing in his heart.
