Dr. Rajesh Takyar was born in 1955 in Jalandhar, India. He later moved to Delhi with his parents, where he spent his childhood and formative years. Growing up in New Delhi, he faced many challenges that taught him the value of self-reliance, perseverance, and responsibility from an early age.
 

While pursuing his B.Com. (Pass) With a degree from the University of Delhi, Dr. Takyar also worked to support himself and cover his expenses. These experiences of struggle and hard work became an important part of his character and outlook on life. He believes that the joys of childhood are essential, but as one grows older, accepting responsibility becomes equally important. In his own words, “I have reached where I am today not by avoiding difficulties, but by facing them with determination.”


Dr. Rajesh Takyar attributes his achievements not only to hard work and persistence, but also to the grace of God. Today, he devotes most of his time to reading, research, reflection, and writing. He has a deep interest in Indian religion and philosophy, particularly the Puranas, the Vedas, and other ancient spiritual and religious texts.


He has authored more than 40 books in both Hindi and English. His books are published and distributed through Penguin Random House India.

More recently, he created a remarkable world record by writing an extensive eighteen-volume series on the eighteen chapters of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, comprising approximately 1.15 million words.


In addition to writing books, Dr. Takyar has spent considerable time improving Wikipedia pages to make knowledge more accurate and accessible.


His contributions to literature, spirituality, religious studies, and the Indian knowledge tradition have earned him numerous awards and recognitions over the years. He also wrote his autobiographical book, Diary Of A Monk (इंवेंटिंग ड्रीम्स, हिन्दी), which won the 2025 Golden Book Award.
