Where Did the Sudarshan Chakra Come From?

भThe story of Lord Krishna receiving Sudarshan Chakra is an important and interesting incident in Hindu mythological stories. There are many stories about its attainment in various Puranas and texts.
SuThere is a very wrong belief among the people about the origin and attainment of Darshan Chakra that Sudarshan Chakra emerged from the ocean at the time of Samudra Manthan. This is not written in any Purana or scripture.
SuThe first name of Darshan Chakra appears in the story of Jalandhar slaughter in the ninety-seventh chapter of Srilingamahapuran written by Maharishi Vedvyas. The demon named Jalandhar was born from the water sphere. While fighting with him, Yaksha, Gandharva, Uraga, Devta and Brahma ji were also defeated. After several days of war, the demon Jalandhar defeated Lord Vishnu. After this, Jalandhar set out to fight Shiva with lakhs of horses, elephants and chariots. Seeing the demon Jalandhar coming with other demons, Mahadev said laughingly - "O Asureshwar! Now what work do you want to accomplish through this war? Get ready to die by my arrows." Then the three-eyed man started asking Lord Vishnu - "Vishno! Why did you not kill the demon king Jalandhar in the war and why did you abandon Vaikuntha and run away? Lord Vishnu said- “O Kailashpati! The first reason is that this demon is born from your part and the second reason is that I want you to kill him.” On the other hand, the demon king was full of pride. He started laughing after listening to them. 16 ॥

tLord Vishnu said - "O Kailashpati! The first reason is that this demon is born from your part and the second reason is that he is the brother of Lakshmiji. I want you to kill him."
On the other hand, the demon king was full of pride. He started laughing after listening to them.

KKnowing that he had come for a war with the demons, Lord Mahadev soon created a very terrible chakra-like weapon from the toe of his foot in the ocean with the power of his yoga, which later came to be known as 'Sudarshan Chakra'.
भGavan Neelkanth laughingly said - "O demon! O king of demons, Jalandhar! This weapon which has arisen from the toe of my foot in the ocean, if you pick it up, I will fight with you."
tb On the other hand, due to pride, Jalandhar, who had an arrogant nature, started lifting the Sudarshan Chakra created by Rudra with the intention of killing Lord Shiva. As soon as Jalandhar, the king of demons, with great force, lifted the Sudarshan Chakra made by Kailashpati on his shoulder, at the same time that Jalandhar was broken into two pieces by that Durdhar Chakra.
This is the incident of appearance of Sudarshan Chakra for the first time. The details of this entire incident have also been described in great detail in the hundredth chapter of the fifth section of Padma Purana. After some time, a very terrible war again took place between the gods and the demons. All the gods were defeated and ran away praying to Lord Vishnu to protect us.

KuAfter six months, a terrible war again took place between the gods and the demons. All the gods were defeated and ran away praying to Lord Vishnu to protect us.
Then the gods spoke further - "O Jagadguru! You somehow ask Tripurari, Bholenath for the same weapon with which he had killed the demon Jalandhar." Will do.”
tShri Vishnu said - "O gods! I will go to Mahadev and get those weapons and will save you all by killing all the demons and demons."
After that, Lord Vishnu started worshiping the best Rudradev. Then Lord Sadashiv, with the intention of testing Lord Vishnu, hid a lotus from the worship of Lord Vishnu. Having found one lotus less, Lord Vishnu offered his eye to Lord Gangadhar saying 'Sarvastattvavalamban'. 169 ॥After this, Lord Vishnu started worshiping the best Rudradev. Y Seeing this, Mahadev appeared from the Shankar Linga in his form adorned with a Jata-like crown as bright as millions of suns and laughingly said - "O Janardan! I know the work done by you for the gods and bestow upon you the Chakra named Sudarshan." And saying this, Lord Shiva gave Sudarshan Chakra to Vishnuji and also gave him an eye like a lotus. The place where Lord Vishnu worshiped Lord Shiva is known as Chakrankit Tirtha.
From that time, Lord Vishnu also came to be known as Kamalnayan.
Received from Parashuram
AAccording to another story, Sudarshan Chakra was received by Lord Shri Krishna from Lord Parashuram, full details of this are given in the forty-ninth chapter of Vishnu Parva of Sri Harivansh Purana. That city situated on the banks of river Narmada was full of Yaduvanshis. Shri Krishna and Balram ji saw a sage sitting there. Krishna said - "Lord! I know that you are the best of the wise Parashuram. We are Yadavas and we have grown up living under the shadow of fear of Kansa. Now we do not want to fight with Jarasandha, please give us some advice for this."

Hearing all this the great sage Kshatriya, the bravest of warriors, started laughing. And laughingly he said - "O Madhusudan! I know you very well. And O Rauhineya! I know you too. It is impossible for you to know anything." ॥ 74 ॥
