The Truth of the Mahabharata

Brahman Vedarahasyam cha yachchanyat establishedam maya.

Sangopanishad Chaiva Vedanam Vistarakriya ॥ 62 ॥

MThere is a big myth among the people about the poetic text 'Habharata' that this religious text should not be kept at home. This is a lie spread by someone.

SThe first Vyasji, being situated in meditation and yoga, has created this book by directly seeing all the events mentioned in the Mahabharata happening in history with his knowledge. Brahma ji came to him after knowing this. Then Vyas ji said - "O Lord! I have composed an epic that is worshiped in the entire world. And in it I have described the secret secrets of the entire Vedas, the essence of all the scriptures and not only this, all the Upanishads and the parts of the Vedas." On the request of Lord Brahma, Vyas ji requested Ganeshji to write this book. Since then this poetry is before us in the name of Mahabharata. It has been said in the beginning of this Mahabharata that for those humans who are wandering blindly in the darkness of ignorance, this is the light that opens the eyes of knowledge. As soon as this is read, all kinds of darkness vanishes. It has the solution to every difficulty that comes in human life. This Bharat-Puran is such a lamp whose light not only dispels the darkness of attachment but also makes one clearly see the way to live life.

tAt the behest of Brahma ji, Vyas ji requested Ganesh ji to write this book, since then this poetry is in front of us in the name of Mahabharata. VyaSaji had first composed a code of sixty lakh verses of this poetry, but out of these, only one lakh verses of this Adya Bharat i.e. Mahabharata are revered in this human yoga. Vyasji was the first to study it to his first son Shri Shukdevji. 261 ॥

Shraddhadhaanh, always united, always religious.

आसेवन्निममध्यायं नरह पापात प्रमुच्यते ॥ 261 ॥

Shrivan Na Krichchreshvavasidati 262 IIIt is clearly stated in the Mahabharata that any person who believes in religion and recites the chapter or chapters of this epic daily with devotion becomes free from every kind of sin.

सेवेष्णिकाध्याम् भारतस्येम्मादितः।

अस्तिकः सतातं श्रिन्वन् न कृच्छ्छेष्ववसिदति ॥ 262 ॥

ENot only this, it is further said that by reciting this regularly, no trouble of any kind comes to him and even if it does come, its sorrow does not torment him. One who recites any part of it in the morning, afternoon or evening becomes free from all kinds of sins. This is the nectar of life. A human being should drink it every day through study, this helps in learning the art of living a successful life and destroys the enemies. It becomes very easy to struggle. By studying it one attains heaven, gets a long life and increases one's fame. 272 ॥ 273॥

Pura Kil Surai: Sarvaih Sametya Tulya Dhritam.

Chaturbhya: Sarhasyebhyo Vedebhyo Hyadhikam Yada ॥ 272 ॥

Tada Prabhriti Lokesmin Mahabharatamuchyate.

Abhishte cha gurutve cha dhriyamanam yato'dhikam ॥ 273॥

This means that a long time ago, all the gods together, to know the glory of this Mahabharata book, placed all the four Vedas on one scale of the scale of truth and kept Mahabharata on the other scale. But the gods saw that the Mahabharata proved to be greater than the weight of the four Vedas. Since then, this epic written by Maharishi Vyas has started being called Mahabharata all over the world. One who knows this secret, his ancestors are liberated and his future generations live a happy life. But the only condition while reading is that the feelings of the person reading should be pure. One should not find any remedy in this to cause harm to one's enemy. The glory of this book is clearly visible in the above verse written in the first chapter of Habaratha.
