But Garuda Dev asked to come every day instead of every month, which all the snakes accepted due to self-defense. One day when it was the turn of Kaliya Naag, he refused to eat Garuda Dev and started fighting with Garuda Dev. In the same fight, two of Garuda Dev's wings broke and fell down. At the same time, a peacock and a Neelkantha were born from those wings. That is why these two birds have great importance. It is considered very auspicious to have his darshan on Shukla tenth day of Ashwin month. Due to the huge fight in the month, no one protected Kaliya Nag, so sage Phanishvardev decided to let Kaliya Nag live in a part of Yamuna river without any fear, due to which Kaliya Nag lived in that part of Yamuna river. The name of that part was Kalindi, which is in Vrindavan. Lord Vishnu's vehicle Garuda Dev never went to that part due to the fear of the curse of Rishi Saubhari. Wearing the peacock feather is also a symbol of the simplicity and humility of Shri Krishna.
